Vixen VMC110L Modified Cassegrain Telescope with Porta II Mount
Vixen VMC110L Telescope with Porta II Mount
Here is one of the best multiple purpose grab and go telescopes that is as perfectly suited for looking at the stars as it is the bird in the tree half a mile away. With more light gathering capability than anything else in this price range and a extremely light weight at 4.6lbs, you might just forget you packed it with you to the top of that ridgeline (well okay maybe not!).
Don’t let its diminutive size and weight fool you, many telescopes like this design are used for research around the globe and even outside our atmosphere! You are sure to be blown away by its snap focus and razor like images.
The Vixen VMC110L, is a 110 mm (4.33 inch) aperture modified Cassegrain f/9.4 optical tube assembly . The VMC110L includes a built in flip mirror and comes with one eyepiece. With no corrector plate, the VMC110L features a small corrector lens ahead of the secondary mirror. This compact optical tube, with features found on our higher end telescopes, is a great pick up and go scope.
The PORTA II gives great performance when viewing objects at high magnification, the damping and vibration being significantly reduced as compared to other lesser quality telescope mounts.

The A70Lf is an Achromatic Refractor with 70mm (2.8”) of aperture. Its focal length is 900mm (3 ft.) with an f ratio of 12.9. Its light gathering is 100 times better than the human eye and has a maximum (realistic) power of 143X. It weighs about 4 lbs. This package combines sharp optics and a rock solid, light weight mount. It takes just seconds to place the telescope on the mount and you are ready for an evening of observing. The Vixen PORTA comes equipped with two fine adjustment handles for whole circle slow motion in both directions, very useful in searching and tracking celestial objects. In addition, these are great mounts for terrestrial viewing. Our gear drives make it a simple matter to precisely track a planet or a ship on the horizon by simply turning the elevation and or azimuth control handles. The “World-Standard” dovetail attachment system on PORTA was developed by Vixen. This allows the PORTA to accept various dovetail mounted optical tubes and binoculars.
